Tooth Extraction

Dental and tooth extractions are a common dental procedure that doesn’t have to be scary! We’re here to bust those myths about tooth extraction and make it easier than ever to bring out your best smile.

What circumstances call for a tooth extraction?

We will always attempt to save a damaged tooth whenever possible. However, some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal/gum disease or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

Do dental extractions hurt?

It’s a myth! Our dentists in Darwin are trained professionals and will make this as comfortable and pain-free as possible. This isn’t like the old doorknob trick – we’ve got the equipment, atmosphere and anxiety-busting methods to make your dental extraction experience positive.

What about afterwards?

We use an anaesthetic during the tooth extraction process to alleviate any risk of pain. Once the anaesthetic wears off, you may feel some tenderness and discomfort. But not to worry – we’ll prepare you with any prescriptions and guidance you need to heal quickly and with as little discomfort as possible.
